It appears to me that Transport for London is not making the most of the Tube strike. Given that London Underground’s passengers are repeatedly subject to ad hoc line closures for engineering work, especially at weekends, when the network is almost as busy as it is during the week, surely the moment a strike is confirmed TfL’s engineering teams should bring forward any maintenance or upgrade works planned for later in the year? A completely empty tube for 24 hours is surely a dream-come-true for the Underground’s engineering teams.
